Ukraine's MFA says aircraft coalition starts functioning
The coalition of Western allies promising to provide Ukraine with fighter jets has already begun its functioning in practice, as Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote on Telegram, citing Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
"The aircraft coalition has practically begun its functioning, soon pilot training on aircraft and simulators will start, as well as the preparation of technicians and infrastructure", the statement says.
Fighter Jets for Ukraine
Approximately a month ago, Western allies intensified discussions regarding the transfer of F-16 fighter jets and other aircraft of a similar class to Ukraine. During the recent Ukraine Defense Contact Group meetings, Denmark and the Netherlands said they are ready to take the lead on this issue.
Partners say that the aircraft transfer will only be possible after pilot training. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that it has already begun.
According to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov, the delivery of Western aircraft can be expected no earlier than 2024.
