Ukraine's Defense Intelligence conducts successful operation in enemy rear in Kursk region
A source in Ukraine's Defense Intelligence reports that fighters of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence conducted a successful operation in Russia's Kursk region behind enemy lines, destroying a vehicle loaded with drones.
According to the source, Ukrainian partisans in the city of Rylsk, the Kursk region, identified the location of a Russian crew operating unmanned systems.
Ukrainian forces spotted the enemy crew while loading a vehicle with plastic boxes containing drones.
"As a result of successful sabotage actions, the sports utility vehicle (SUV), along with its valuable cargo, was burned," the source told RBC-Ukraine.
Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk region
Earlier, on August 6, the Ukrainian Armed Forces began their operation in the Kursk region, capturing more than 1,000 square kilometers.
According to the Razumkov Center, the majority of Ukrainians (58%) supported the military operation by the Armed Forces. In particular, respondents were asked how they felt about Ukrainian forces conducting military operations not only on Ukrainian territory but also on Russian soil. Twenty percent of those surveyed viewed it negatively, 7% were indifferent, and 16% were undecided.
According to Reuters, by the end of November, Ukraine lost more than 40% of the territory in the Kursk region that it had controlled after the sudden operation launched in August. Currently, the Ukrainian Armed Forces hold approximately 800 square kilometers of Russian territory.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Vladimir Putin instructed his military to retake the Kursk region by January 20, 2025, the day of the inauguration of the newly elected US President, Donald Trump.
