The situation on the border of the Sumy region with the Kursk region, Russia, remains fully under the control of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reports.

According to Syrskyi, several settlements mentioned in Russian propaganda reports no longer exist due to massive enemy shelling.

Despite the significant presence of Russian troops, reinforced by North Korean infantry, the enemy is suffering substantial losses.

"Just in the area of Pliekhove, in four days of fighting, the enemy has effectively lost a battalion of infantry," the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted.

In addition, Ukrainian defenders are effectively eliminating enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups as well as small infantry units attempting to break into Ukrainian territory.

Syrskyi emphasized that to reinforce the Ukrainian units in the region, a decision was made to deploy additional forces and resources, including electronic warfare systems and drone technology.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces also refuted Russian claims of a threat of Ukrainian forces being encircled.

"As of now, there is no threat of our units being encircled in the Kursk region The units are executing timely maneuvers to more advantageous defensive positions," Syrskyi stated.

Situation in Kursk region

According to various media reports, the situation in the Kursk region has allegedly worsened recently. In particular, there were claims that Russian forces had advanced northwest of Sudzha - in the Sverdlykovo area - toward the Ukrainian border.

The Telegraph also reported on the alleged encirclement of Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region. According to media reports, after the US halted intelligence sharing, Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region supposedly faced the threat of encirclement. This, according to their sources, has complicated attack predictions and defense coordination.

Meanwhile, the Center for Countering Disinformation clarified that intense battles with Russian assault groups are ongoing in the border area of the Sumy region. The enemy is attempting to break through into the city of Sudzha, located in the Kursk region.
