Earlier today, the Air Force warned of an aerial threat to Kryvyi Rih as the enemy launched a guided bomb toward the city.

This is the first confirmed strike on the city with an aerial bomb. Earlier, in July of this year, a bomb struck the city. However, it was later clarified that a different type of missile had been used.

RBC-Ukraine reported on the type of weapon the enemy might have used, whether it could have been a Grom-1, and the difference between guided bombs, missiles, and drones.

New Russian aerial bombs

Last week, the Russians launched cluster aerial bombs at the Odesa region for the first time. At that time, governor Oleh Kiper emphasized that the incident posed a new serious threat to the Odesa region, as such strikes carry enormous danger for civilians and could cause significant damage.

According to the Defense Intelligence, Russia is moving toward mass production of aerial bombs with universal planning and correction modules (UMPK). These are bombs called Grom-1 or Grom-2, but their function is the same and their combat range is 150–200 km.

The head of communications of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yurii Ihnat, said that Russian troops use rocket-guided bombs to strike Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense systems are capable of shooting them down.
