Ukraine receives minehunter ship from the Netherlands, another on the way by year's end

A delegation from the Netherlands, led by Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans and Chief of Defence of the Netherlands Armed Forces Onno Eichelsheim has arrived in Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Navy.
According to Commander of the Ukrainian Navy Oleksiy Neizhpapa, during the meeting they discussed the security situation in the Black Sea region and prospects for further cooperation. They also discussed the need to exchange experience in modern technological warfare to strengthen both sides.
“I expressed my gratitude for the significant efforts and fruitful cooperation within the framework of the Ukraine Maritime Capabilities Coalition. The support of the Netherlands makes our fleet stronger and more effective in the fight against Russia,” Neizhpapa said.
According to him, Ukraine recently received an Alkmaar-class mine countermeasures vessel from its partners, and another one is expected to be delivered by the end of the year. Crew training is already underway.
About Alkmaar
The Alkmaar-class minesweeper is a modern military vessel designed to search for and destroy sea mines. The ships are equipped with special sonar systems for detecting mines and remote or remotely controlled devices for their disposal.
Alkmaar is equipped with modern navigation and communication systems, allowing the crew to safely perform tasks even in difficult sea conditions. Ships of this type are actively used to protect important sea routes and ports, ensuring the safety of navigation.
Ukraine also received minehunters from Belgium and the Netherlands, namely BNS Narcis and Zr.Ms. Vlaardingen.
