Ukraine and Russia are currently negotiating only on humanitarian issues, particularly on the release of prisoners of war, says National Security and Defense Council secretary Rustem Umerov in an interview with CNN.

When asked whether negotiations between Russia and Ukraine on ending the war are actually taking place, the NSDC secretary replied that, currently, only humanitarian issues are being discussed, in particular, the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war.

“At the moment, we are continuing with the humanitarian part, where we are releasing and exchanging prisoners of war,” Umerov said.

European leaders, together with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, visited Washington, where an agreement was reached to hold bilateral and trilateral meetings.

“So, at this stage, I think we are waiting when the trilateral and bilateral meetings will be done,” he added.
