Ukraine downs 96 drones as Russia launches massive overnight attack

Russia launched an overnight attack on Ukraine on August 31, using one missile and more than 100 drones from several directions, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.
What Russia used in the attack
From 6 p.m. on August 30 through the morning of August 31, Russian forces launched one Kh-59 guided air-launched missile from airspace over the Black Sea.
At the same time, Russia deployed 121 attack drones — primarily jet-powered Shaheds, as well as Gerbera drones and Parody decoys. The drones approached Ukraine from several directions:
- Kursk;
- Oryol;
- Millerovo;
- Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russia;
- temporarily occupied Donetsk;
- Hvardiiske, temporarily occupied Crimea.
As of 8 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had destroyed or suppressed 96 enemy drones, including Shaheds, Gerberas and other types of drones flying toward northern, southern, eastern and central Ukraine.
The Kh-59 guided missile did not reach its target.
The aerial weapons struck 11 locations, while falling debris from downed targets was recorded at eight more sites.
Meanwhile, Kyiv is preparing changes to its warning system. The city authorities are considering different alert signals depending on the type of threat, as well as a possible change to the curfew system.
The proposals will be presented soon at the initiative of the prime minister.
RBC-Ukraine previously reported that amid Russian attacks on warehouses and distribution centers, Ukrainians have raised concerns about possible food shortages.
Presidential adviser Serhii (call name Flash) Beskrestnov said that if necessary, Europe could make up for potential food shortages, while businesses are currently reorganizing their supply chains.
