UK intelligence on significance of drone attack on Russian Kuschevskaya airbase

A successful strike by Ukrainian drones on the Kuschevskaya airbase will diminish the Russian aviation's capability to strike along the front line, according to the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom.
According to the report, on April 27, the Security Service of Ukraine utilized drones to target the Kuschevskaya airbase, as well as the Ilsky and Slavyanskoil refineries in Krasnodar Krai. The Russian military claimed to have shot down 66 UAVs, indicating the scale of the attack.
British intelligence indicates that the Kuschevskaya airbase houses several Russian aircraft, including Su-34s and Su-35s, which are deployed daily in strike operations against Ukrainian frontline positions, often employing precision-guided bombs. Video footage from open sources shows multiple sets of guided bombs being destroyed at the airbase's storage facilities.
Russian aircraft from Kuschevskaya and several other airbases typically conduct between 100 to 150 sorties per day, with a significant portion launching munitions along the front line. Russia's strategy relies heavily on firepower to achieve breakthroughs, as noted in the report.
"Ukraine’s ability to disrupt russian tactical air, particularly glide bomb usage, is key to the wider defense of the frontlines. This successful strike is likely to force further russian dispersals of fighters as well as reallocation of air defense assets to plug gaps," said the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom.
