U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled a new design for military uniforms for the U.S. Space Force. The design is reportedly inspired by the iconic 1997 science-fiction film Starship Troopers.
What is known about the new U.S. Space Force uniforms
Trump posted a mock-up of the new uniform, made predominantly in black and gray, on his social media platform Truth Social. The design has a strict military look and is intended to emphasize the specific nature of service in the space domain.
The post states that the uniform was “inspired by the discipline of the Starship Troopers uniform,” while also being modernized for service members responsible for space operations.

The unusual design immediately sparked mixed reactions on social media. Some users pointed not only to its resemblance to the characters from “Starship Troopers,” but also to the fact that the uniform looks similar to the costumes worn by Imperial officers in the “Star Wars” franchise.

What is known about “Starship Troopers”
“Starship Troopers” is a science-fiction film directed by Paul Verhoeven, released in 1997. The movie is based on Robert Heinlein’s novel of the same name and tells the story of a future in which humanity is engaged in an interstellar war against giant insect-like creatures.
The film stars Casper Van Dien and Neil Patrick Harris.
At the same time, Verhoeven himself repeatedly emphasized the satirical nature of the movie. According to the director’s vision, “Starship Troopers” was intended to mock the idea of a so-called “fascist utopia.”
