Trump to sign order to dismantle US Education Department - CNN

US President Donald Trump is set to sign a decree today, marking the start of the process to dissolve the US Department of Education. This move will begin the implementation of one of his key campaign promises, according to CNN.
According to a source, Trump plans to take this step in the afternoon at the White House.
A government official also informed that while full closure of the Department of Education will require congressional approval, US President Trump has instructed Secretary Linda McMahon to take “all necessary steps to facilitate the closure of the Department of Education and return education authority to the states.”
Just over a week ago, US Secretary of Education Linda McMahon announced that nearly 50% of the agency's staff had been cut. The media noted that this was the first step toward closing the department.
Earlier, it was reported that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), under Elon Musk's leadership, had reduced the US Department of Education's expenses by more than $900 million.
