US President Donald Trump called on Netflix to fire Susan Rice from its board of directors or face punishment. The move came after statements that Democrats would take action against companies that kneel before the president, according to Bloomberg.
Bloomberg notes that Susan Rice was a national security adviser to former US President Barack Obama, US ambassador to the UN, and also worked in the White House of former head of state Joe Biden. In 2023, she returned to Netflix’s board of directors after leaving the Biden administration.
Recently, in one of the podcasts, she said that corporations, news organizations, and law firms that agreed to Trump’s loyalty demands now see that their actions were unpopular.
“They’re going to be held accountable if Democrats return to power. If they think Democrats are going to play by the old rules, they’ve got another thing coming, Rice said.
Trump did not specify on social media what exact consequences could be for the Netflix platform, although he has previously criticized other television networks for content he did not like.
Moreover, Brendan Carr, head of the Federal Communications Commission, has threatened to revoke television broadcasters’ licenses.
