US President Donald Trump has once again brought up Cuba, saying Washington will deal with the island “on the way back from Iran.” He added that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio would then be sent there to finish the job, Magno News reports.

“We're going to come back from Iran, those beautiful ships. We'll pass Cuba. We'll have one of them stop about 50 yards off the coast. They'll raise up their hands, and then we're going to send Marco Rubio in to finish up the day,” Trump said.

Meanwhile, Rubio himself wrote on X that for those seeking positive change in Cuba, “now is the time.”

“The disappointment of failed promises, corruption, and the privileged lives of only a few; seize this opportunity to create the change you desire through a discreet partnership with the CIA,” the US secretary of state concluded.

What else you need to know

The Trump administration has repeatedly said it aims to change Cuba's communist government.

To achieve that goal, the United States has imposed an oil blockade, putting the country in a difficult position. Cuba is experiencing fuel shortages and power outages.

Just a month ago, Trump said the United States and Cuba would reach a deal without the need for military action.
