President of the United States Donald Trump said he may attend the talks between Ukraine and Russia in Türkiye tomorrow, May 16, reports The Guardian.

He may attend the meeting of delegations if it is appropriate.

The talks between Ukraine and Russia are scheduled for today, May 15.

Ukraine-Russia talks in Istanbul

Russian president Vladimir Putin proposed to resume direct talks with Ukraine on May 15 in Istanbul. In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was ready for a dialogue, but only with Putin himself, not with his representatives.

Zelenskyy arrived in Türkiye on May 15. In the capital, Ankara, he will meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. After that, he will wait for Putin's arrival and is ready to fly to Istanbul if the Russian leader arrives there.

For a long time, Moscow did not say who exactly would be part of the Russian delegation to the talks, but on May 14 it became known that Putin did not plan to participate in them. The Russian delegation will be headed by Putin's aide, Vladimir Medinsky, who has already represented Russia during the 2022 talks.
