Due to cold weather, the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump will be moved indoors. However, this decision will prevent the vast majority of guests from attending in person, reports CNN.

The US Capitol sergeant-at-arms stated in a memo to congressional offices that the decision to move the inauguration indoors deprives the vast majority of ticketed guests of the opportunity to attend the ceremony in person.

"At this time, based on the inclement weather plan, the Sergeant at Arms believes at most we will be able to accommodate guests with Platform, Upper West Terrace, and possibly Section 3 tickets, and some of these guests will be seated in Emancipation Hall," the memo said.

Trump’s inauguration, scheduled for Monday, January 20, is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of attendees, along with approximately 25,000 law enforcement officers and military personnel.

What preceded this

On Friday, CNN reported that Donald Trump’s inauguration would be held indoors rather than outdoors due to dangerously low temperatures forecasted for January 20. Trump later confirmed the decision, stating he did not want people to suffer from the cold.

CNN also noted, citing a social media post by the president-elect, that his address will take place in the Capitol Rotunda, while the presidential parade is set to be held at the Capital One Arena.
