The Golden Dome missile defense system, initiated by US President Donald Trump, has turned out to be significantly more expensive than previously stated, according to Bloomberg.

The official leadership of President Donald Trump’s Golden Dome initiative has disputed the estimate that the top‑secret missile defense shield would cost six times more than expected.

However, US Space Force General Michael Guetlein, the director of the Golden Dome, stated that the Congressional Budget Office's report is based on incomplete information.

According to preliminary estimates, the cost of the Golden Dome is expected to be around $185 billion. However, the actual figure could reach a different amount — $1.2 trillion.

"They did not estimate the architecture that we’re building," said US Space Force General Michael Guetlein, a day after the report was published.

He also added that the Pentagon has not released much information due to the threat from intelligence agencies.

Senator Tim Sheehy, a Republican from Montana who serves on the Armed Services Committee, agreed that the cost of the Golden Dome would exceed $1 trillion.

"If built to the President’s vision, as it should be, this will be a multi-trillion dollar project," he said at a conference, urging to be honest with people about it.

As reported, the US is increasing funding for the Golden Dome missile defense project, focusing on the development of space capabilities.

The Pentagon wants to spend $1.5 trillion to create a Golden Fleet and an AI army for Trump.
