The head of Donald Trump's administration, 68-year-old Susie Wiles, who is described as one of the most influential women in contemporary American politics, has announced a serious illness, according to her post on the social network X.

It turned out that the White House chief of staff was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. However, instead of taking an extended leave or resigning, Susie Wiles has chosen to fight the illness without stepping away from state affairs and will therefore continue to manage the US presidential administration as usual.

She noted that doctors detected her illness at an early stage, so the prognosis is very good. Furthermore, Susie Wiles urged all women to be attentive to their own health.

"Nearly one in eight women in the United States will face this diagnosis. Every day, these women continue to raise their families, go to work, and serve their communities with strength and determination. I now join their ranks," she wrote.

Reaction from Donald Trump and the White House

The presidential administration immediately responded to the news, expressing full support for its chief: Donald Trump called Wiles one of the strongest personalities he knows, emphasizing her incredible work ethic even while undergoing medical procedures.

"Susie, as one of my closest and most important advisors, is tough and deeply committed to serving the American People," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "She will soon be better than ever"

In turn, Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, noted that Susie is an example of true leadership for the entire team.

Currently, Wiles plans to combine her treatment course with a demanding schedule at the White House. Colleagues note that her presence at the workplace is a powerful signal of courage, not only to the political class but also to thousands of American women going through similar trials.

Alarming statistics: cancer in numbers

The case of Susie Wiles has brought the issue of oncological diseases in the US back to the national level.

According to the US National Cancer Institute, the situation remains critical: in 2025, over 316,950 new cases of breast cancer were recorded in the US. This accounts for 15.5% of all new cancer cases in the country.

The disease claimed the lives of more than 42,000 people last year.

Incidentally, 67-year-old American actor Bruce Campbell recently announced that he has been diagnosed with an incurable form of cancer.

Meanwhile, staunch pro-Putin propagandist Margarita Simonyan has shown through her own experience the consequences of battling oncology.
