A new poll in the US shows that only 39% of Americans approve of Donald Trump's work as president. This is the lowest approval rating among all presidents in recent decades, reports ABC News.

A joint poll by ABC News, The Washington Post, and Ipsos revealed that most Americans are dissatisfied with Trump’s policies. Only 39% of respondents said they approve of his performance as president, which is a 6-point drop from February. Meanwhile, 55% expressed disapproval.

According to ABC News, Trump previously held the record for the lowest approval rating after 100 days in office. In 2017, his approval stood at 42%. What’s most concerning for Trump now is the negative view of the economy. Seventy-two percent of those polled believe his economic policies could trigger a recession in the near future.

Concerns about the economy

Seventy-three percent of respondents rated the state of the economy as poor. Additionally, 53% believe the situation has worsened since Trump took office, while 41% said their personal finances have also declined.

Sixty-two percent noted that prices are rising despite Trump's promises to keep them in check. Seventy-one percent of those polled believe his tariffs negatively affect inflation. Only 31% agree with Trump’s argument that his policies will strengthen the economy in the long run.

Expansion of presidential powers

The negative ratings are not limited to the economy. Sixty-five percent of respondents believe the Trump administration is trying to avoid implementing federal court rulings, and 64% feel he is overly aggressive in attempting to expand the president's powers. Additionally, 62% of respondents are convinced that his administration does not respect the rule of law.

Most are also concerned about excessive cuts to government functions (58%), believe Trump is acting beyond his powers without proper justification (56%), and are doubtful of the administration’s commitment to protecting citizens' rights and freedoms (55%).

The lowest approval, 53%, is for his immigration policy.

A majority (60% and more) oppose various initiatives by the administration, including 77% opposed to cuts in funding for medical research.

Among the positive aspects, 43% believe that government waste has decreased under Trump, compared to 25% who think it has increased.

Trump's approval rating drop

At the beginning of April, data from a three-day Reuters/Ipsos poll was released. It showed that Trump’s approval rating as president dropped by two percentage points compared to a poll conducted from March 21-23, and is 4 points lower than the 47% approval rating he had shortly after taking office on January 20.

The poll highlighted that Trump faces dissatisfaction from the public regarding his economic and foreign policies, scandals within his administration, and his military strategy.

Additionally, according to the latest poll from the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (released on April 1), Ukrainians are increasingly disappointed with Trump's policies and do not expect anything positive from the US president in the future.
