Trump reveals he discussed fresh sanctions on Russia with Putin

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is not thrilled with American sanctions on the Russian economy, but previously Russia managed to cope with them.
This was stated by US President Donald Trump in his speech.
"We talk about sanctions a lot. He is not thrilled with it. He has been able to handle sanctions, but these are a pretty biting sanctions (the upcoming ones – ed.). He understands that it might be coming. He is a professional," said the President of the United States.
At the same time, Trump emphasized that he takes a harder stance toward the Russian Federation than toward Iran or any other country.
Senators demand action from Trump
Recall that on July 4, three Democratic senators — Jeanne Shaheen, Elizabeth Warren, and Chris Coons — announced the start of an investigation into the Trump administration’s actions. The president was accused of not imposing new sanctions against Russia over its war against Ukraine for more than five months.
Meanwhile, a bill is already pending in the US Senate, which provides for new restrictions on Russia. In particular, it proposes a 500% tariff on any country that continues to buy Russian oil and other goods. The bill enjoys strong support from senators — 84 out of 100 votes.
Valeriy Klochok, head of the Public Analytics Center Vezha, noted that the US president is likely to start putting real pressure on Putin no earlier than early autumn. One should not expect any quick decisions regarding pressure on Russia from this US administration.
