US President Donald Trump announced that every US citizen will receive $2,000 from income generated by tariffs.
"People who are against tariffs are fools! We are now the richest, most respected country in the world, with almost no inflation, and a record stock market price," Trump said.
He claimed the nation's pension savings had reached a record level. Trump added that the US is now earning trillions of dollars and will soon begin paying off its "enormous $37 trillion debt."
Additionally, he noted that the US is seeing record investments, with factories and plants being built across the country.
Amid this, Trump promised Americans $2,000 each from tariff revenues.
"A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high-income people!) will be paid to everyone," he concluded.
Trump's tariffs
In April 2025, President Trump announced tariffs on most of the United States’ trading partners. Some countries faced a basic 10% tariff, while others had higher rates. China was at the top of the list.
A few days later, he said he would briefly pause the restrictions but would keep the basic 10% tariff against all countries. The pause was linked to negotiations aimed at reaching trade agreements with specific nations.
In August, Trump announced new tariff measures, which then took effect.
He also managed to conclude several tariff deals. For example, on August 21, the US President met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. They agreed on a 15% tariff on most European goods, including cars, medicines, semiconductors, and timber.
At the end of October, Trump met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. After the meeting, the White House agreed to lower tariffs on Chinese goods from 57% to 47% under a one-year deal.
