Trump impeachment protests shake Washington, massive crowds hit streets

Massive protests called Remove the Regime have begun in Washington, during which thousands of Americans are demanding the impeachment and removal of President Donald Trump, according to Axios.
The event marks another expression of public discontent in a year that the US has already dubbed a record for the number of demonstrations.
The Washington protest takes place amid widespread protest movements across the country. Just last month, over 7 million Americans participated in No Kings marches following a historically long government shutdown. Organizers of the new event emphasize that the protest in the capital has particular significance, as it takes place right outside the president’s windows.
The protests lasted several days and included various formats - from rallies to musical performances and political stand-up.
Program:
- Thursday: Opening rally, followed by a record-breaking impeachment lobbying march. Representative Al Green, known for his criticism of Trump, joined the march.
- Friday: Lobbyist training sessions, a veterans’ rally, and a comedy night featuring stand-up performances.
- Saturday: Main rally at the Lincoln Memorial with performances by Dropkick Murphys and Earth to Eve. In the evening, a charity concert featured several musical acts.
Organizers emphasized that the protest has a political purpose rather than an entertainment focus: “We will have fun, but this is not for fun. We intend to change the trajectory in this country and the conversation around the world. We can only do this if we show up in numbers that are too big to ignore.”
Organizers did not disclose the expected number of participants. The White House also declined to comment.
Who is behind the protest
The Remove the Regime protest is coordinated by a broad coalition of nearly 20 organizations, including 50501, Citizens’ Impeachment, Gaslit Nation, Flare, and Remember Your Oath.
In a coalition statement, they said: “Mitigating the sabotage of American democracy is not sufficient. The Removal Coalition exists to elevate the removal demand of the protest and direct action space, compel media coverage of this objective, translate that pressure to lawmakers, empower activists to be explicit about demanding impeachment and removal, and amplify organizations committed to this constitutional imperative.”
The organizations emphasize that, in their view, Trump’s impeachment is a constitutional imperative and urge Americans to mobilize to compel the authorities to act.
Trump’s approval rating in the US has fallen to its lowest point during his entire term.
This comes amid rapidly rising prices in the US, which have sparked public outrage. The acceleration of inflation has been influenced, in part, by Trump’s tariffs on various imported goods.
Additionally, a new wave of scandal has emerged in the US regarding billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Newly released documents contain numerous references to President Donald Trump.
