On Friday, the NYT reported that a clash had erupted between DOGE leader Elon Musk and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a government meeting this week. However, President Donald Trump denied this conflict, according to Associated Press and Rapid Response 47.

Speaking with journalists at the White House, the US president denied the reports that a conflict had occurred between Rubio and Musk over massive government cuts during a cabinet meeting at the White House.

“No clash, I was there. Elon gets along great with Marco, and they’re both doing a fantastic job. There is no clash,” Trump said.

AP adds that immediately after the meeting on Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he had instructed the government to work with Musk, the billionaire overseeing the large-scale budget cuts of the Cabinet’s Department of Government Efficiency.

Rubio-Musk conflict and Trump's decision

As reported yesterday by The New York Times, Marco Rubio became angry with Elon Musk after the latter accused him of failing to reduce staff. The criticism was made right in front of US President Donald Trump. Rubio denied Musk’s accusations, stating that more than 1,500 employees had taken early retirement.

Additionally, as reported by Politico, Donald Trump limited Elon Musk's powers after the mass layoffs. Specifically, the US president stated that the billionaire could only offer recommendations to departments, not make personnel decisions.
