The man who burst into the US leadership dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel and opened fire had an anti-Christian manifesto, according to US leader Donald Trump.
It turned out that the manifesto was sent to family members of the attacker, Cole Tomas Allen, shortly before the incident, an anonymous law enforcement official told Reuters.
"When you read his manifesto, he hates Christians," Trump said, calling the shooter "a sick guy" who had a lot of hate in his heart.
It is also known that the suspect called himself the "Friendly Federal Assassin," the aforementioned official claims.
"Turning the other cheek when *someone else* is oppressed is not Christian behavior; it is complicity in the oppressor's crimes," the manifesto reads.
It also mocked the insane lack of security at the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the dinner took place. As for the targets listed in the manifesto, they included administration officials and the FBI, in order of rank from highest to lowest.
"Like, the one thing that I immediately noticed walking into the hotel is the sense of arrogance," the manifesto's author wrote.
"I walk in with multiple weapons and not a single person there considers the possibility that I could be a threat," he added.
Acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche said the suspect will be charged in federal court with assault on a federal officer, use of a firearm, and attempted murder of a federal officer.
However, Blanche does not yet know whether Iran was involved in the attack. Further federal indictments will be filed later.
The assassination attempt on Trump took place at the same location where former US President Ronald Reagan was killed — he was shot near the current hotel.
Shooting at the Washington Hilton Hotel
On the night of April 26 (Kyiv time), a dinner was held at the Washington Hilton Hotel, attended by Donald Trump, White House administration officials, and journalists.
An armed man burst into the hotel and opened fire, wounding an officer who was wearing a bulletproof vest. Trump and the First Lady, Vice President JD Vance, and other high-ranking officials were quickly evacuated following the incident.
Afterward, the US leader emphasized the need to complete the Ballroom in the White House, which would feature high-level security. However, as is known, there is some opposition in the US to the president’s plan for a Ballroom that would cost $400 million.
