Trump avoids question on Putin talks over 30-day ceasefire

Trump avoided answering whether he discussed a ceasefire with Putin. The US President did not say if he urged the Russian leader to agree to a 30-day truce, according to the press conference at the White House.
During the press conference, the media reminded Trump that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had agreed to a 30-day ceasefire several months ago. This initiative is still "on the table."
In response, US President Donald Trump said that after his most recent conversation with Vladimir Putin, he discussed the situation with leaders of several European countries.
"What we've done and very strongly is we said 'Let's get this thing going.' And, you know, I had many of the leaders of European nations on the line with me right after the call (with Putin - ed.) And we have to get that thing (war in Ukraine - ed.) solved," Trump stated.
US President emphasized that currently, between 5,000 and 6,000 people are dying each week, and added that he had seen satellite images showing the horrific consequences of the fighting.
"This isn't my war. This is not the war that would have happened if I were President. But right now, I'm just trying to help," Trump emphasized.
US President also reminded the audience that his country has already spent "hundreds of billions of dollars on this war," but, in his words, war isn't just about money - it's primarily about human lives.
Trump emphasized that he would try to influence the situation and convince both sides to stop the war, at least temporarily.
