US President-elect Donald Trump arrived in Washington on January 18, ahead of his inauguration, which is scheduled for January 20, informs CBS News.

According to the publication, Trump's plane landed at Dulles Airport in the evening before heading to Trump Sterling Golf Club for scheduled evening festivities and fireworks.

Trump stepped off the plane at about 7:20 PM. He did not answer questions, but briefly paused to wave at the press and clenched his fist twice in the air.

Earlier, Trump, Melania, and their son Barron boarded the plane at 5:13 PM Eastern Time and departed from Palm Beach International Airport near Mar-a-Lago. The three of them turned on the stairs, and Trump waved before heading inside the plane.

"While Trump holds court at his club, Vice President-elect JD Vance will attend a reception for Cabinet members and host a dinner in Washington," the publication states.

On Sunday, January 19, ahead of his inauguration, Trump is scheduled to participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, followed by a rally at Capital One Arena in Washington. After the rally, a private dinner will take place.

Inauguration Day for Trump

On inauguration day, Trump will begin the traditional prayer service at St. John’s Episcopal Church before heading to the White House for a traditional tea with outgoing President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

He will then proceed to the Capitol. More than 250,000 guests have received tickets to attend the inauguration ceremonies throughout the Capitol. The Congressional Joint Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, responsible for event planning, stated that "the vast majority of ticketed guests will not be able to attend the ceremonies in person."

"Former first lady Michelle Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Neither gave an explanation as to why she was skipping the ceremony," journalists note.

After Trump takes the oath of office and delivers his inaugural speech, there will be a formal farewell to Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

"As the new Republican government takes power, Trump will head to a signing ceremony at the Capitol to approve some of his first official acts, followed by a congressional luncheon and review of U.S. troops," the channel reports.

Additionally, Trump plans to address his supporters again before heading to the White House for a signing ceremony in the Oval Office.

Trump's victory in the US election

In early November 2024, the US held its presidential election. Republican Donald Trump won the race, securing a second presidential term.

It is worth noting that the inauguration of the US President-elect Donald Trump will take place indoors on January 20, instead of outdoors. This decision was made due to dangerously low temperatures expected in Washington on that day, marking the first time this has occurred since 1985.
