Slovakia's goal is not to defeat Russia in its war against Ukraine, but to end the conflict altogether, Prime Minister Robert Fico said on STVR.

During the discussion, Fico again criticized the European Union, saying it is pursuing the wrong policy. He added that Slovakia does not aim for Russia's defeat in Ukraine.

The prime minister stated that their goal was to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible, adding that it was Slavs killing each other and that war was not a solution.

Fico also claimed that the EU is spending too much effort on "supporting the war in Ukraine" and stressed that he will never be a "wartime prime minister."

He had to clarify his stance when the moderator asked whether his position on the war contradicts the legacy of Slovaks who fought for their country's freedom against the Nazis during World War II. Fico responded that the war in Ukraine is, in his view, a "regional conflict."

According to a survey conducted among Ukrainians, Robert Fico ranks among global politicians considered enemies of Ukraine, alongside Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Chinese leader Xi Jinping, and other similar figures.
