At Schiphol Airport near Amsterdam, around 450 flights were canceled or delayed on Friday, January 2, due to adverse weather conditions, according to NL Times.

The cancellations were attributed to snowfall and strong wind gusts, according to the outlet.

As of the morning of January 2, airlines had canceled 56 departing flights and 58 arriving flights. In addition, more than 330 flights were operating with delays ranging from several minutes to several hours.

Similar disruptions were reported at Eindhoven Airport and Rotterdam The Hague Airport.

Passengers were advised to check flight information in advance and take the severe weather into account.

Access to the airport was also complicated by icy conditions and strong winds. The A5 motorway near Schiphol Airport was temporarily closed following a traffic accident.

Severe weather in Ukraine

In late December 2025, snow and strong winds paralyzed parts of Ukraine’s Carpathian region, leaving six settlements partially without power, affecting 668 consumers.

In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, severe weather disrupted traffic, with many drivers stranded on snow-covered roads. Units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine towed vehicles and evacuated dozens of people, including children.

The same day, storms hit the Zhytomyr region, where emergency crews cleared fallen trees and assisted motorists. In the village of Toporyshche (Zhytomyr district), rescuers helped a bus driver who slid off the road and was unable to continue due to icy conditions.
