Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić was hospitalized at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade after his sudden return from the US. Health Minister Zlatibor Lončar visited him, informs Serbian TV channel RTS.

According to Serbian media, Vučić suddenly fell ill during his visit to the US. He sought medical help and underwent tests. Afterward, he decided to return to Serbia, canceling the events for which he had traveled to the US.

Vučić became unwell while preparing for upcoming meetings and after meeting with congressmen and Serbian entrepreneurs. At the time, Serbian Finance Minister Siniša Mali and the Serbian president's media advisor were with him in the room, according to Serbian media.

Vučić had planned to attend the Russian parade

Vučić fell ill just days before the Victory Day parade, which Russians celebrate on May 9. He had personally confirmed plans to attend the event in Moscow despite EU threats of consequences for Serbia.

As reported by the media, European officials warned Vučić that a visit to Moscow could undermine Serbia's ambitions to join the European Union.

Vučić's plans were also criticized by Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi emphasized that Russia's Victory Day has nothing to do with the victory over Nazism.
