Scholz calls on China to use its influence over Russia
Olaf Scholz called on China to use its influence over Russia more to change the course of the war in Ukraine, according to Sky News.
After bilateral negotiations with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang in Berlin, Scholz also emphasized that China should not supply weapons to Russia and that the war in Ukraine should not become a frozen conflict.
China-Russia Relations
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, China has refused to condemn Kremlin's actions. Beijing insists on maintaining neutrality in the "conflict".
However, the Chinese authorities have repeatedly stated that despite their position, they do not provide any military assistance to Russia. This information has also been confirmed by the United States.
Nevertheless, Moscow and Beijing have previously announced the strengthening of their partnership.
In particular, Western media investigations have shown that China is assisting Russia in producing weapons and equipment. This includes components for military technology, drones, aviation equipment, and body armor.
A few weeks ago, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, released a video boasting that his fighters had received Chinese China Tiger armored vehicles. How these vehicles ended up in Russia remains unknown.
