Russia maintains approximately 21,800 military personnel near the northern border with Ukraine. The situation is reported to be under control, according to the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhii Naiev.

In Russian territory, the adversary has created and sustains a group totaling 20,000 individuals. Military forces continuously conduct reconnaissance, shell border areas, and actively enhance engineering and fortification equipment in the region.

"There are measures being taken to rearm units with modern or upgraded weapon models," Naiev said.

In Belarus, on the other hand, with the aim of strengthening the border, about 1,800 individuals from the armed forces are stationed alongside the border, in addition to border service units, said the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Military and law enforcement agencies consistently carry out combat training activities, bolster surveillance systems, and improve engineering and fortification equipment along the border.

Assistance from Belarus to Russia

Within the framework of the so-called Union State, Belarus continues to provide support to Russia in its war against Ukraine by supplying and repairing weaponry and military equipment.

"The production of new and the refurbishment of outdated ammunition is carried out at the enterprises of the Belarusian military-industrial complex, with their subsequent transfer in the interests of the Russian Armed Forces," said Naiev.

Belarus' role in Russia's war against Ukraine

During the full-scale invasion by Russia, Belarus became involved by allowing Russian forces to enter Ukrainian territory through its own borders. At that time, terrorists seized parts of the Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions. Ukrainian forces later liberated all these territories.

Throughout the entire period of the war, the occupying country utilized Belarus' territory to launch attacks on Ukraine. Belarus also organized the so-called joint exercises with Russia, which have been ongoing since April 29, 2022.
