Russian authorities have not yet released official data on the consequences of the strike or the extent of the damage.
Proton develops and manufactures optoelectronic equipment, semiconductor devices, LED products, and power electronics.
The company is a key component of the Russian military-industrial complex. It supplies components for the Iskander-M missile systems and the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun systems.
Defense forces regularly strike industrial facilities deep within Russia. In late October, Ukrainian drones attacked Omsk, targeting the Omsky Kauchuk factory and the Ozon warehouse. Satellite images show that the Ozon warehouse in Omsk was partially burned down, even though it is more than 2,500 km from the border with Ukraine.
Oil refineries are also being targeted. According to estimates by OSINT analysts, in just three days, Ukraine disabled 10% of Russia’s oil refining capacity.
