Russian forces continue to terrorize Ukraine and its civilian population. In the early hours of Tuesday, October 7, Russia launched a drone attack on the city of Poltava, according to Volodymyr Kohut, head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration.

Reports of Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) activity over the Poltava region were first issued by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at 00:30 AM Kyiv time on October 7, 2025.

According to data from the Air Force Situation Center:

  • Groups of drones were approaching the Poltava region simultaneously from the north and south;

  • Drones were also detected in the central part of the region, moving westward.

By 01:07 AM Kyiv time, the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Kohut, confirmed that air defense systems were active in the area.

"Air defense is operating in the Poltava district. Please remain in shelters," Kohut wrote.

Earlier, around midnight on October 6, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Kharkiv using Shahed-type combat drones. According to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, nearly twenty explosions were recorded within just twenty minutes of the strike. Emergency service units and medical response teams are currently operating in reinforced mode.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, over the past 24 hours, Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 31 airstrikes, using one missile and 65 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russia deployed 3,382 kamikaze drones along the front line and conducted 2,971 artillery attacks on Ukrainian troop positions and populated areas.
