Russian forces are gradually losing control over Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region. However, the situation in the city is difficult for both sides due to the complicated logistics, according to Viktor Trehubov, the head of the communications department of the Joint Forces Grouping, during a broadcast of the national telethon.

Trehubov recalled that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin had claimed that the Kupiansk direction was supposedly "fully encircled."

"This was not the case then, nor is it now. Moreover, there is a trend that the Russians are gradually losing control over the city, particularly in the areas where they were initially established — these are the northern districts where they entered and attempted to entrench themselves, but their numbers have decreased as a result of effective counteractions. It cannot yet be called a victory; for now, it is ongoing work," the spokesman noted.

According to him, the situation remains difficult for both sides. The city lacks effective logistics from the Russian side, and logistics are extremely complicated from the Ukrainian side as well.

"This means that the units directly located in the city suffer from the inability to normally receive ammunition replenishment or sometimes even food. Nevertheless, Ukraine’s logistics are better organized, and there are fewer Russians left, so the situation is somewhat more difficult for them," Trehubov added.

Fighting for Kupiansk

Earlier, the military reported that the Russian presence in Kupiansk is shrinking, with fewer than 50 occupiers remaining in the city. They are cut off from one another and from the main forces of the Russian army due to disrupted logistics.

Additionally, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are preventing Russian troops from fortifying themselves in the northern part of Kupiansk. Despite attempts by the occupiers to hold their positions and build fortifications, Ukrainian units have been actively conducting counterattacks in recent days, driving the enemy out of captured positions.
