Russian cities plunged into darkness: Belgorod, Taganrog, and Perm blackout

Late on the evening of January 24 and into the night of January 25, Russian cities Belgorod, Taganrog, and Perm experienced blackouts. At least one city reportedly lost power due to an alleged attack on a thermal power plant, according to Russian Telegram channels.
Belgorod
According to reports on social media, Belgorod was targeted by unidentified rockets after 9:00 PM. The strikes reportedly targeted a local thermal power plant, causing power outages across the city.
Shortly afterward, the region’s governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, confirmed the attack, claiming that the city had been hit by HIMARS rocket fire.
“There is damage to energy facilities. We are currently gathering information. Emergency crews and operational services have been dispatched to the sites,” he added.
At the same time, local channels reported that heating was out in some parts of the city, and power interruptions also occurred in the Budivelnyk area, according to Pepel Belgorod.
Taganrog and Perm
On the same evening, several social media pages reported a threat from unidentified drones in Taganrog, Rostov region.
By the night of January 25, footage appeared online showing fires and explosions, after which buildings lost power. One eyewitness claimed the city was being bombed, while channels reported that a transformer had failed.
That same evening, the Zakamsk district in Perm also plunged into a blackout. The cause remains unknown, though social media noted that the Perm Powder Plant is located in that area.

Other cities
On the evening of January 24, Telegram channels reported that Zaraysk, in the Moscow region, also experienced a partial blackout. According to a response from a Mosenergo official, the outage was caused by a network failure.
It should also be noted that, according to monitoring channels, explosions were heard overnight in the city of Oryol and in the Bryansk region.
