Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Russian Black Sea Fleet has lost about a third of its ships. But Ukraine still has work to do, says Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk.

"In terms of numbers, we can talk about a third (of the Russian Black Sea Fleet's ships - ed.). But, of course, a qualitative indicator is important. Therefore, there is still a lot of work to be done. First of all, it concerns cruise missile carriers, of which they have a dozen in the Black Sea," he said.

The spokesperson noted that due to the successful work of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, civilian shipping in the Black Sea, which Russia tried to block at the beginning of the full-scale war, was restored. This is critically important for Ukrainian exports.

According to Pletenchuk, we should not forget about the threats posed by Russia in the Black Sea. The spokesperson reminded that amid the losses of the fleet, the occupiers have strengthened the aviation component, and Russian aircraft are constantly present in the Black Sea region. According to him, this is a problem for Ukraine.

The second anniversary of the destruction of the cruiser "Moscow"

On April 13, 2022, the Ukrainian military attacked the Russian cruiser Moscow in the Black Sea. The Ukrainian Navy struck with Ukrainian Neptune missiles.

The Russian flagship sank a day after the attack. According to preliminary data, there were more than 400 Russian sailors on board. Russia is still silent about the loss of the Moscow cruiser.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Ukrainian military has destroyed 26 Russian ships and submarines.
