The situation on the frontline by the evening of 16 November remains tense. Defence forces continue to hold their positions under constant pressure from Russian forces, which have intensified attacks from almost all directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the General Staff, since the start of the day on 16 November, 195 combat engagements have been recorded. Russian forces carried out 43 airstrikes and used 105 guided aerial bombs.

Russian forces also launched 2,322 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,274 strikes on positions of Ukrainian units and civilian areas.

Northern and Eastern directions

On the North Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Russian forces conducted one airstrike, used guided aerial bombs three times, and fired 87 shells, including five salvos from multiple launch rocket systems.

On the South Slobozhanskyi direction, Russian forces attempted to break through the defence six times near Vovchansk, Dvorichanske, and Obukhivka; one engagement is ongoing.

On the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped eight attempts to advance in the areas of Pishchane, Kupiansk, and Holubivka.

Central frontline sectors

On the Lyman direction, 17 attacks were repelled in the areas of Cherneshyna, Novyi Myr, Hrekivka, Karpivka, Koroviachyi Yar, Drobysheve, Yampilivka, Terny, and Zarichne.

On the Sloviansk direction, eight attacks were repelled near Yampil, Serebrianka, Fedorivka, Siversk, Vyimka, and Zvanivka.

On the Kramatorsk direction, five clashes were recorded in the areas of Travneve, Veroliubivka, and Tymchasovyi Yar.

Donetsk direction

On the Kostiantynivka sector, Ukrainian forces stopped 27 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, Poltavka, Sofiivka and Novopavlivka.

On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attacked 66 times; one engagement is ongoing.

Russian forces suffered 117 killed and wounded. Ukrainian troops also destroyed one artillery system, 15 drones, four vehicles, and three pieces of special equipment.

Southern directions

On the Oleksandrivka direction, 21 attacks were repelled in the areas of Zelenyi Hai, Yalta, Andriivka-Klevtsove, Oleksandrohrad, Voskresenka, Stepove, Sosnivka, and nearby settlements.

On the Hulyaipole sector, Russian forces attempted to advance 14 times; airstrikes targeted Hulyaipil, Vozdvyzhenka, Bilohiria, and Ternuvate.

On the Orikhiv direction, one attack was stopped in the Stepnohirsk area.

On the Prydniprovskyi direction, an attempt by Russian forces to advance toward the Antonivskyi Bridge was repelled; Sadove came under attack.

North Korean military personnel continue to operate alongside Russian forces in the occupied territories, confirming the deepening of their cooperation and demonstrating Pyongyang’s real involvement in the war against Ukraine.

Meanwhile, in the occupied Luhansk region, residents remain without stable access to water and heating. Attempts to improve living conditions on their own are turned by the occupation administration into grounds for fines. In several settlements, the water supply has not worked for weeks, and in apartment buildings, people are forced to use only water drained from the heating system.
