Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of Оctober 22

Fighting along the front line remained extremely intense on October 22, as Russian forces continued their attacks in several directions, using aircraft, missiles, and kamikaze drones, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As of October 22, 111 combat engagements were recorded along the front line. Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 62 airstrikes, launching 28 missiles and dropping 98 guided bombs. They also deployed 3,337 kamikaze drones, with more than 3,300 Ukrainian settlements and military positions coming under fire.
Northern directions
In the Northern–Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks. Russian forces conducted four airstrikes, dropped 12 guided bombs, and carried out 145 incidents, including nine MLRS barrages.
In the Southern–Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian units withstood six attacks near Vovchansk, Bolohivka, Stroivka, Kamyanka, and Kolodiazne, while two more clashes remain ongoing.
East: Kupiansk and Lyman
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled three attacks near Pishchane, Petropavlivka, and Kupiansk; two engagements continue.
In the Lyman direction, defenders halted four assaults around Drobysheve and Derylove.
Donbas: Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka
Near Sloviansk, Russian forces attempted to advance eight times around Serebrianka, Siversk, Vyimka, and Fedorivka.
No offensive actions were recorded in the Kramatorsk direction.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, there were ten attacks, nine repelled, with fighting still ongoing in one sector.
Pokrovsk direction
This area saw the highest activity, 40 assault attempts. Fighting took place near Volodymyrivka, Myrnohrad, Novoeconomichne, Krasnyi Lyman, Nykanorivka, Rodynske, Luch, Novopavlivka, Pokrovsk, Udachne, and other settlements.
Preliminary reports indicate 87 Russian troops were neutralized, including 62 irrecoverable losses. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 12 drones, 3 UAV antennas, 5 vehicles, and 10 shelters.
Southern directions
In the Oleksandrivka sector, Ukrainian units repelled 16 attacks near Andriivka-Klevtsove, Sosnivka, Verbove, Pryvilne, Novovasylivka, Oleksandrohrad, and Novohryhorivka.
In the Huliaipole area, one assault was recorded, with airstrikes hitting Rivnopillia, Huliaipole, Uspenivka, Zaliznychne, and Malynivka.
In the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces tried twice to advance near Novodanylivka and Stepove, while Zaporizhzhia suffered an airstrike.
In the Prydniprovskyi sector, there were three assaults near Antonivskyi Bridge and an airstrike on Olhivka.
Meanwhile, in the Russian city of Kopeysk (Chelyabinsk region), powerful explosions occurred late on October 22, reportedly at a facility producing military equipment and ammunition.
Additionally, the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved a package of bills that includes a proposal to designate Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism, authorize the seizure of Russian assets, and impose measures to curb Moscow’s support from China.
