Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of Оctober 20
Over the past 24 hours, 168 combat engagements were recorded along the entire front line. Ukrainian defense forces struck three areas of enemy troop concentration, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, the enemy launched two missile strikes — using four missiles — and carried out 74 airstrikes on Ukrainian positions and populated areas, dropping 165 guided bombs.
In addition, Russian forces conducted 4,894 shelling attacks, including 93 using multiple launch rocket systems, and deployed 5,482 kamikaze drones.
Situation on the fronts
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, 13 combat engagements took place over the past day. The enemy also carried out two airstrikes, dropping six guided bombs, and conducted 160 shelling attacks on the positions of Ukrainian forces and populated areas, including five using multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy launched 10 assaults on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Vovchansk, Tyche, Kamianka, and toward Dvorichanske and Bolohivka.
In the Kupiansk direction, four attacks were recorded over the past day. Defense forces repelled enemy assaults toward Pishchane.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked six times, attempting to advance near the settlements of Drobysheve, Serednie, Novoselivka, and Myrne.
In the Sloviansk direction, the enemy launched two attacks on Ukrainian positions in the areas of Serebrianka and Yampol.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions during the past day.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy carried out 24 attacks in the areas of Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, Toretsk, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, and Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 58 enemy assaults and offensive attempts in the areas of Shakhove, Volodymyrivka, Rodynske, Novoekonomichne, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Sukhyi Yar, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Filia, Promin, Lysivka, Molodetske, Dachne, and toward Novopavlivka.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions 24 times toward Orestopil and in the areas of Andriivka-Klevtsove, Voskresenka, Oleksandrohrad, Vyshneve, Verbove, Sichneve, Vorone, Sosnivka, Novohrhorivka, and Novomykolaivka.
In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy carried out three unsuccessful attacks near Malynivka.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy launched one attack on Ukrainian positions near the settlement of Plavni.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy made three unsuccessful attempts to approach Ukrainian defensive positions near the Antonivskyi Bridge.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of enemy offensive group formations were detected.
Enemy losses
Ukrainian forces continue to inflict significant losses on the occupying troops in manpower and equipment, actively degrading the enemy’s offensive potential in the rear.
Over the past day, aviation, missile, and artillery units of the Defense Forces struck three areas of enemy manpower, weapons, and equipment concentration, two UAV control points, and four enemy artillery systems.
In total, Russian occupying forces lost 890 personnel over the past day. Ukrainian troops also destroyed two tanks, 45 artillery systems, one air defense system, 398 operational-tactical UAVs, and 94 units of enemy motor vehicles.
