Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of May 18

As of 10:00 PM Kyiv time on May 18, 130 combat engagements had taken place on the front since the beginning of the day. In the Pokrovsk direction alone, Ukrainian forces repelled 40 Russian assaults, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian strikes
Russian forces carried out 54 airstrikes throughout the day, dropping 80 guided aerial bombs. They also used 1,098 kamikaze drones and launched nearly 3,700 attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas.
Frontline update
In the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces attacked four times near Vovchansk and conducted airstrikes near Kolodiazne and Kamianka.
In the Kupiansk direction, two attempted advances toward Nova Kruhliakivka were repelled.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 19 assaults near Tverdokhlibove, Kopanky, Ridkodub, Hrekivka, Torske, and in the areas of Karpivka, Olhivka, Zelena Dolyna, and Hryhorivka. Two clashes are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, six assaults took place near Bilohorivka and Verkhniokamianske, with one engagement still unresolved.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces attacked near Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, Kurdiumivka, and Stupochky. Ukrainian defenders pushed back six assaults.
In the Toretsk direction, six engagements occurred as Russian forces tried to advance near Toretsk, Petrivka, Ozarianivka, Dyliivka, and Druzhba. Two clashes are still underway.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces launched 44 attacks near Malynivka, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Dachenke, Zvirrove, Novosergiivka, Udachne, Troitske, Oleksiivka, Andriivka, Kotlyne, and in the directions of Zoria, Shevchenko Pershyi, and Popiv Yar. Ukrainian troops repelled 40 assaults, and four more are ongoing. Airstrikes targeted Popiv Yar, Shevchenko Pershyi, Sukhyi Yar, Novoukrainka, Zaporizhzhia, and Pokrovsk. Preliminary reports indicate that 151 Russian personnel were neutralized, including 84 killed. Ukrainian forces also destroyed four vehicles, a satellite communication system, eight shelters, 10 motorcycles, a mortar, and five drones.
In the Novopavlivka direction, 22 assaults were repelled near Kostiantynopil, Bahatyr, Shevchenko, Vilne Pole, and Rivnopil. Seven engagements are still in progress. Novodarivka and Burlatske came under airstrikes.
In the Huliaipole direction, Russian forces did not conduct offensive operations but carried out an airstrike on Huliaipole.
In the Orikhiv direction, one Russian attack near Lukianivske was repelled. Novoandriivka was hit by an airstrike.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian units attempted to advance once, but the attack was repelled. An airstrike hit Odradokamianka.
In the Kursk direction, 14 combat clashes were recorded, one of which is still ongoing. Russian forces carried out 18 airstrikes, dropped 32 guided bombs, and launched 196 artillery strikes.
