As of 10 p.m. on February 16, 117 combat engagements took place in the frontline. Most of the fighting was recorded in the Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka directions, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
Russian shellings and air attacks
Today, Russian forces conducted one missile and 53 air strikes, using two missiles and dropping 72 guided aerial bombs. In addition, they used 1152 kamikaze drones and fired 4197 times at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas.
The situation at the frontlines
On Sunday, in the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian troops repelled two Russian attacks in the direction of Vovchansk, one attack was stopped and another is ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Russians conducted offensive actions near Petropavlivka, Zahryzove, Bohuslavka, and Pishchane. Eleven combat engagements were completed, and five more attacks are ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Russian invaders stormed the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces near Novoserhiivka, Novoyehorivka, Novoplatonivka, Novolyubivka, Nove, Novomykhailivka, Yampolivka, Kolodyazi and Dronivka. Ukrainian troops stopped ten Russian attacks, three combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, near the village of Hryhorivka, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled one enemy attack.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the Russian troops attacked eight times in the areas of Chasiv Yar and Vasiukivka, five attempts by the Russian militants to advance were successfully stopped by Ukrainian troops, and three more combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russians carried out eight assault operations. They stormed the positions of Ukrainian units near Toretsk and Krymske. Two combat engagements are currently underway.
Pokrovsk direction. Since the beginning of the day, the Russian army has attacked 38 times in the areas of Vodiane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Pishchane, Udachne, Uspenivka, Nadiia, Oleksiivka, Andriivka, Dachne and Ulakly. One firefight is still ongoing.
“According to the available data, the enemy's losses in this sector amounted to 172 servicemen killed and wounded, two tanks, 17 vehicles, two motorcycles, and one mortar were destroyed, in addition, three more enemy tanks, three vehicles, and an enemy mortar were significantly damaged,” the statement said.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the Russians attacked 18 times near Kostiantynopil, Burlatske, Novoocheretuvate, and Novosilka. Five attacks have already been repelled. The fighting continues.
In the Orikhiv direction, the Russian forces made six assaults on the positions of Ukrainian troops in the areas of Novoandriivka, Piatykhatky, Shcherbaky, and Mali Shcherbaky.
No combat engagements have been recorded in the Prydniprovsky and Huliaipole directions since the beginning of the day.
In the Kursk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled seven Russian attacks, and two more combat engagements are still ongoing. The Russians made 436 artillery attacks, 13 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems. The Russian aviation carried out 35 air strikes, dropping 56 guided bombs.
There were no significant changes in other frontline areas.
261 combat engagements took place in the frontline yesterday, February 15. This number was more than twice as high as on February 14.
