Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 23

Over the past 24 hours, 234 combat clashes were recorded along the entire frontline. Four other important Russian military targets were hit, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
According to the General Staff, the enemy launched yesterday one missile strike using a single missile, as well as 15 airstrikes, dropping 29 guided aerial bombs.
In addition, Russian troops carried out over 4,200 shellings, including 151 from multiple rocket launchers, as well as used 2,053 kamikaze drones for the attacks.
The Russian army also launched airstrikes in the areas of Shcherbynivka, Toretsk, Katerynivka, Kostiantynivka, Novodmytrivka, Andriivka, and Dachne.
Russian Losses
Over the past day, Ukrainian missile and artillery forces struck two personnel concentration areas, one electronic warfare station, an ammunition depot, a drone storage facility, and four other important Russian targets.
Ukrainian forces continue to inflict significant losses on the occupiers in terms of manpower and equipment while actively undermining the enemy's offensive capabilities in the rear.
Overall, the Russian losses for the past day amounted to 1,990 soldiers. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 6 tanks, 15 armored combat vehicles, 29 artillery systems, 55 operational-tactical drones, one cruise missile, 67 military vehicles, and two units of special equipment of the enemy.
Frontline situation
Kharkiv direction: The enemy made seven attempts to storm Ukrainian positions in the areas of Hoptivka, Hlyboke, Vysoka Yaruha, Buhruvatka, and Starytsia.
Kupiansk direction: Seven Russian attacks occurred. The enemy's assaults near Kucherivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Bohuslavka, Zahryzove, and Nova Krystynivka were repelled.
Lyman direction: The Russian army launched 36 attacks, trying to break through Ukrainian defenses near Zelenyi Hai, Novoserhiivka, Novoyehorivka, Hrekivka, Makiivka, Nadiia, Ivanivka, Terny, Toretsk, Hryhorivka, as well as toward Druzheliubivka, Dibrova, and Serebrianka.
Siversk direction: Twelve clashes took place near Bilohorivka, Verkhniokamianske, Ivano-Daryivka, and Vyimka. The enemy used armored vehicles, buggies, and motorcycles in their assaults on Verkhniokamianske.
Kramatorsk direction: Seven attacks occurred in the areas of Vasiukivka, Chasiv Yar, and Stupochky.
Toretsk direction: The enemy carried out seven attacks near Toretsk and Druzhba.
Pokrovsk direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled 37 attacks near Lysivka, Sukha Balka, Promin, Zelene, Ukrainka, Dachenske, Shevchenko, Novoukrainka, Pokrovsk, Novovasylivka, Novoyelyzavetivka, and Novoolenivka. The enemy used armored vehicles near Zelene, Dachenske, Shevchenko, Novoyelyzavetivka, and Novoolenivka but was unsuccessful and continued to gather forces.
Kurakhove direction: The Defense Forces repelled 30 enemy attacks. The occupiers attempted to advance in the areas of Sonstivka, Stari Terny, Kurakhove, Yasynove, Dachne, and toward Andriivka.
Fighting continues in the urban areas of Kurakhove.
Vremivka direction: Forty-four assaults were made in the areas of Velyka Novosilka, Kostiantynopolske, Yantarne, Uspenivka, Rozlyv, Rozdolne, Novosilka, Blahodatne, Vremivka, and near the village of Bahatyr. While repelling the assaults, Ukrainian forces destroyed one enemy tank and two armored combat vehicles, as well as three tanks and one armored combat vehicle were damaged.
Orikhiv direction: The enemy carried out one attack near Nova Andriivka.
At the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian forces attempted to push Ukrainian forces out of their positions four times but were met with stiff resistance and suffered losses.
Volyn and Polissia Directions: No signs of enemy offensive group formations were observed.
At the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy actively used artillery and UAVs from the territory of Russia against Ukrainian settlements.
Kursk region operation: Over the past day, Ukrainian forces repelled 27 enemy attacks in the area, with the enemy carrying out 440 shellings.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, a warehouse containing components for Shahed-136 drones was destroyed in the territory of Russia, resulting in an estimated loss of approximately $16 million.
