Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 31

The Pokrovsk sector remains the most difficult area of the frontline. Over the past day, the Russian army has also become more active in the Kupiansk, Lyman, and Kurakhove directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Over the past day, 183 combat clashes were recorded at the front, more than a week ago, but less than the previous day.
Yesterday, the aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the defense forces carried out nine strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel and military equipment. An air defense system and another important object were hit.
Sectors updates
In the Kharkiv sector, seven firefights took place near Pletenivka, Lyptsi, and Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk sector, 32 combat clashes were registered. Defense forces repelled enemy assaults near Synkivka, Kolisnykivka, Novoosynove, Lozova, Andriivka, Stelmakhivka, and Hlushkivka.
In the Lyman sector, the enemy attacked 22 times near Tverdokhlibove, Novosergiivka, Druzheliubivka, Hrekivka, Cherneshchyna, Makiivka, Nevske and Novosadove.
In the Siversk sector, Russians attacked four times near Verkhnekamianske, Ivano-Daryivka, and Vyimka.
There were 12 combat clashes in the Kramatorsk sector. Ukrainian defenders repelled the Russian assault near Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Ivanivske, Andriivka, and Predtechyne.
In the Toretsk sector, there were 16 clashes, including near Toretsk and Nelipivka.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 55 enemy assaults in the areas of Zelene Pole, Vozdvyzhenka, Hrodivka, Karlivka, Novohrodivka, Marynivka, Myroliubivka, Novohrodivka, Mykhailivka and Selydove. The highest concentration of attacks was near Novohrodivka.
In the Kurakhove sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces stopped 24 enemy attacks near Ukrainsk, Halytsynivka, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Kostiantynivka.
In the Vremivka sector, Russian troops attacked eight times near Vuhledar and Vodiane. They were unsuccessful.
In the Orikhiv sector, there was one firefight near Robotyne.
In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Ukrainian troops repelled two enemy attacks.
The situation in other sectors remained unchanged.
Most difficult sector
The Pokrovsk sector has been the most difficult section of the frontline for several months. Heavy fighting is taking place there, and Russian troops are approaching the outskirts of the city.
