Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 24

Over the past 24 hours, on August 23, there have been 149 combat clashes on the front line. Nearly a third of these occurred in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
According to updated information, yesterday the enemy launched three missile strikes using five rockets and carried out 74 airstrikes, including dropping 102 KABs, on Ukrainian positions and settlements.
Additionally, the Russians conducted 4,074 shellings, including 138 from multiple rocket launchers, and used 1,249 kamikaze drones.
The enemy conducted airstrikes, particularly on the areas of the settlements of Kruhlykivka, Novoosynove, Bohuslavka, Chasiv Yar, Druzhba, Oleksandropil, Novoekonomichne, Selidove, Memryk, Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka, Katerynivka, Kurakhove, Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv, and Novoandriivka.
Situation by directions
In the Kharkiv direction, seven combat clashes occurred in the areas of the settlements of Lyptsi and Vovchansk over the past day.
In the Kupiansk direction, there were 20 battles. Defense forces repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Petropavlivka, Kurylivka, Synkivka, and Stelmakhivka.
In the Lyman direction, our troops repelled 13 enemy attacks in the areas of Makiivka, Druzheliubivka, Novosadove, Nevske, Torske, and Terny.
In the Severodonetsk direction, the defense forces repelled seven attacks near Vyimka, Bilohorivka, and Spirne.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 22 attempts by the invaders to advance near Chasiv Yar, Kalynivka, and Ivanivske. The situation is under control.
With the support of assault aviation, the enemy attempted to advance nine times in the Toretsk direction, acting in the areas of the settlements of Nelipivka and Toretsk.
In the Pokrovsk direction, our defenders repelled 44 enemy attacks. The enemy is trying to advance towards Vozdvyzenka, Kalynove, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Ptyche, and Zelenopillia.
In the Kurakhove direction, defense forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Heorhiivka, Krasnohorivka, and Karlivka, where the occupiers attempted to breach Ukrainian defensive positions 16 times.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy made 11 attempts to seize our positions near Vodiane and Vuhledar in the Donetsk region.
Over the past day, in the Orikhiv and Dnipro directions, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations but systematically carried out airstrikes and shelled civilian infrastructure in Ukrainian settlements.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains unchanged. No signs of enemy offensive group formations have been detected.
On the border with the Chernihiv region, the enemy maintains a military presence and conducts reconnaissance activities.
Additionally, Ukrainian defense forces continue operations in the Kursk direction.
Enemy losses
According to the General Staff, over the past day, Russian invaders lost 1,160 personnel. Ukrainian troops also destroyed nine tanks, 21 armored combat vehicles, 42 artillery systems, two multiple rocket launchers, three air defense systems, 39 tactical-level drones, two cruise missiles, 54 vehicles, and one unit of Russian special equipment.
Furthermore, over the past day, rocket troops and artillery of the defense forces hit 20 areas of personnel and equipment concentration, a command post, three air defense systems, two artillery systems, an electronic warfare station, a pontoon bridge, and another important object of Russians.
