Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 18

In Ukraine, 72 combat engagements were conducted in the frontline over the last day. Russians continue active assaults in the Donetsk region, in particular in the Novopavlivka direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
In total, the Russians launched 14 missile and 75 air strikes, and fired 95 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries.
Yesterday, Russian occupants attacked Ukraine using 22 Shahed UAVs. The Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed 17 of these attack UAVs.
Over the past day, the following localities were hit by air strikes: Lukashivka, Chernihiv region; Velyka Pysarivka, Popivka, Oleksandrivka, Luhivka, Sumy region and the regional center; Vovchansk, Hoptivka, Basove, Kharkiv region; Netaylove, Novoselivka Persha, Shakhtarske, Makarivka, Staromaiorske, Donetsk region; and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region.
About 140 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions were under Russian artillery fire.
Situation at frontlines
The operational situation remains unchanged in the Volyn and Polissia direction.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the Russians maintain a military presence in the border areas, conduct active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas and increase the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russians made two unsuccessful assaults on the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces near the village of Synkivka in the Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 3 Russian attacks near Razdolivka, Donetsk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense of our troops.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 8 Russian attacks near Ivanivske and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 Russian attacks near Berdychi, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Orlivka, Oleksandropil, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian troops continue to hold back Russians in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, and Pobeda in the Donetsk region, where Russians, supported by air power, tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops 36 times.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven Russian attacks near Robotyne and northwest of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, Russians do not abandon their intention to drive our units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, over the past day, they made 3 assaults on the positions of Ukrainian troops.
Russian losses
Aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck 6 areas where Russian personnel, weapons, and military equipment were concentrated.
Ukrainian missile units struck 3 areas where enemy personnel were concentrated.
