Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of February 18

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult. At the same time, the Ukrainian military managed to destroy an enemy aircraft today, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
There were 56 combat engagements over the last day. In total, the enemy launched 3 missile and 33 air strikes, fired 64 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of our troops and populated areas.
Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in injuries and deaths among the civilian population. Multi-storey and private buildings, as well as infrastructure facilities, were destroyed and damaged.
Situation at the frontlines
The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia directions remained unchanged. There are no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Certain units of the Armed Forces of Belarus are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shells settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine.
The enemy conducted an air strike near Vilkhuvatka, Kharkiv region. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Staroselia in Chernihiv region; Seredyna-Buda, Fotovyzh, Znob-Trubchevska in Sumy region; Kozacha Lopan, Lukiantsi, Hatyshche, Mykolaivka in Kharkiv region.
The enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions in the Kupiansk direction. They conducted air strikes in the areas of Petropavlivka and Borova in the Kharkiv region. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kyslivka, and Kotlyarivka in Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, our soldiers repelled seven enemy attacks near Terny and southeast of Vyimka in Donetsk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense of our troops.
The occupants also launched air strikes near Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, and Rozdolivka, Donetsk region. More than 10 localities suffered from enemy artillery and mortar attacks, including Makiivka, Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, Terny, Yampolivka, Torske, Rozdolivka in Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled four attacks near Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka and Andriivka in Donetsk region, where the enemy was trying to improve its tactical position. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, and New York in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled three enemy attacks in the areas of Lastochkine and Pervomayske in the Donetsk region.
The enemy also launched air strikes near the settlements of Zhelanne, Orlivka and Semenivka in the Donetsk region. About 20 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Lastochkyne, Severne, Pervomayske in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy near Heorhiivka, Pobeda and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Here, the occupants tried to break through the defense of our troops 12 times. Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka and Paraskoviivka came under artillery and mortar fire.
The enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions in the Novopavlivka direction. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Staromayorske in the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces repelled 7 enemy attacks near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. The enemy also launched an air strike near Mala Tokmachka, Zaporizhzhya region. More than 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Poltavka, Chervone, Bilohirya, Novodanylivka, and Pyatikhatky in Zaporizhzhia region.
Kherson foothold
In the area of responsibility of the Odesa Joint Forces Operation Center in the Kherson direction, the enemy does not give up its intention to drive our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River.
Thus, 14 attempts to storm the positions of our troops were made during the day. Zolota Balka, Ingulets, Fedorivka, Ivanivka, Tyahynka, Tokarivka, Krynky in Kherson region and Ochakiv in Mykolaiv region came under artillery and mortar fire.
The enemy also fired from multiple rocket launchers at the areas of Krynky, Tomyna Balka, Ingulets and Ivanivka in the Kherson region.
Russian losses
During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces struck 4 areas of concentration of enemy personnel.
Also, in the eastern direction, units of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a Su-34 fighter-bomber.
Missile troops struck at 3 enemy control points and 1 ammunition depot.
