Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 14

The Russian occupiers launched six unsuccessful assaults to drive the Defense Forces from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
There were 86 combat engagements over the last day. In total, the enemy launched three missile and 60 air strikes, and fired 45 times from multiple rocket launchers at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas.
Russian terrorist attacks resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Private houses and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
Situation at the frontline
The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.
The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia directions remained unchanged. No signs of the formation of offensive groups were detected. Certain units of the Belarusian armed forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shells settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine.
More than 35 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Baranivka, Volfine, Basivka, and Ponomarenky in the Sumy region; Vovchansk, Bochkove, and Budarky in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Defense Forces repelled three attacks in the areas of Synkivka and Petropavlivka in the Kharkiv region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense of our troops. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove in the Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, our defenders repelled 14 attacks near Makiivka, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Verkhnekamianske in the Donetsk region, where the enemy was trying to improve its tactical position. The enemy launched air strikes in the areas of Bilohorivka, Serebryanske forestry in the Luhansk region, and Vesele in the Donetsk region.
About 15 settlements suffered from artillery and mortar attacks, including Nevske and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhnekamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled five enemy attacks near Klishchiyivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy launched an air strike near Bohdanivka, Donetsk region. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasyukivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 9 enemy attacks in the areas of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, and another 13 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. Here, the occupiers, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical situation. More than 10 localities came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Novokalynove, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Vodiane, and Pervomayske in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Here, the enemy, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense of our troops 15 times. Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maksymilianivka, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, and Kostiantynivka came under artillery and mortar fire from the occupiers.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. He conducted an air strike near Volodymyrivka, Donetsk region. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Urozhayne, and Staromayorske in the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, our defenders repelled 9 attacks near Chervone, west of Verbove and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to regain the lost ground. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Levadne, Malynivka, Gulyaypole, Pyatikhatky, and Kamianske in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In the area of responsibility of the Odesa Joint Forces Operation Center in the Kherson direction, the center of Kherson and the village of Stanislav in the Kherson region came under enemy artillery fire. The enemy fired from multiple rocket launchers in the areas of Tyahyntsi, Ivanivka, Ingulets, Mykilske, Sadove, Chornobaivka, and Stanislav in the Kherson region.
Ukrainian Armed Forces offensive
The enemy does not abandon its intention to drive our units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro.
Thus, during the day, the enemy carried out 6 unsuccessful assault operations. Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold positions and inflict significant losses on the enemy.
Russian losses
During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces struck four areas of concentration of enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment. Air defense forces also destroyed one X-59 guided missile.
Missile troops struck three areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, one air defense system, and two ammunition depots.
