Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 7

Ukrainian forces repelled 34 enemy attacks on the Avdiivka sector and continue offensive operations south of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. Missile forces inflicted damage on one Russian helicopter, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
There were 91 reported combat engagements over the past 24 hours. The enemy conducted a total of 2 missile and 80 aviation strikes, along with 85 artillery barrages targeting Ukrainian troop positions and civilian areas. Unfortunately, civilian casualties occurred due to Russian terrorist attacks, resulting in damages to private residences and other civilian infrastructure.
During the past day, Ukrainian air defense destroyed one guided missile of the Kh-59 type.
Additionally, since the beginning of the current day, Russian occupiers once again attacked Ukraine using 18 UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type. Ukrainian air defense successfully neutralized 15 Russian UAVs.
Areas affected by aerial strikes include:
- Krasnyi Khutir, Chernihiv region;
- Synkivka, Ivanivka, Pishchane, Kharkiv region;
- Bilohorivka, Serebrianske Forestry, Luhansk region;
- Terni, Spirne, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Stupochky, Avdiivka, Oleksandrivka, Novomykhailivka, Urozhaine, Rivnopil, Donetsk region;
- Novodarivka, Zaporizhzhia region; Tyahynka, Krynky, and Liubove, Kherson region.
Over 160 populated areas in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.
Frontline situation
The operational situation remains relatively unchanged on the Volyn and Polissia fronts.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanske fronts, the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas, engaging in active sabotage activities to prevent the redeployment of Ukrainian forces to critical areas, while increasing the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod Oblast.
On the Kupiansk front, Ukrainian defenders repelled 7 enemy attacks near Synkivka in Kharkiv region.
On the Lyman front, defense forces repelled 6 enemy attacks in the areas of Terniv, Vesele, and Rozdolivka in Donetsk region.
On the Bakhmut front, Ukrainian forces repelled 12 enemy attacks in the areas of Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in Donetsk region.
Ukrainian defense forces continue offensive operations south of Bakhmut in Donetsk region, inflicting losses on the enemy in personnel and equipment, consolidating their positions.
On the Avdiivka front, Ukrainian defenders continue to restrain the enemy, preventing the encirclement of Avdiivka.
Ukrainian soldiers resiliently maintain their defense, causing significant losses to the enemy. Defense forces successfully repelled 34 enemy attacks in areas east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sieverne, Tonenke, and Pervomaiske in Donetsk region.
On the Maryinka front, defense forces continue to restrain the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region, where 17 attacks were repelled by Ukrainian defenders.
On the Shakhtarsk front, Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy attack north of Novodonetsk in Donetsk region.
On the Zaporizhzhia front, defense forces repelled 6 enemy attacks in areas west of Verbove, Novoprokopivka, and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia region.
Ukrainian advance
On the Melitopol front, Ukrainian defense forces continue active operations, causing losses to the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, exhausting the enemy along the entire frontline.
On the Kherson front, defense forces continue to hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro, engaging in counter-battery warfare and delivering fire strikes on enemy rear areas.
Enemy losses
In the past day, Ukrainian air forces conducted 11 strikes on areas with concentrations of Russian personnel, weaponry, and military equipment, as well as 1 strike on a Russian command post and 3 strikes on enemy anti-aircraft missile complexes.
Missile forces inflicted damage on 1 Russian helicopter, 1 anti-aircraft missile complex, 3 areas with concentrations of personnel, weaponry, and military equipment, 1 ammunition depot, and 2 artillery pieces.
The total number of losses for the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is reported to be 335,110 military personnel.
