The Ministry of Justice of South Africa requested an arrest warrant for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin from the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Shamila Batohi. This move is aimed at humbling Russia, according to the tweet of the Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President, Mykhailo Podolyak.

"The South African government has turned to the court for an arrest warrant for Putin. This is exactly how international law works. If everyone else acts strictly within the legal procedures concerning Russia, the situation will change drastically," wrote Podolyak.

He believes that such actions by South Africa will help deflate Russia's traditional foreign policy arrogance and force them to respect international law.

"Moscow will learn to abide by the laws once it realizes that real power stands behind them," he added.

BRICS Summit

At the end of August, a summit of BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) will take place in South Africa. However, Putin's visit has remained uncertain due to the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant.

According to South African legislation, the country must arrest Putin if he arrives. South Africa has been attempting to secure immunity for the dictator.

Today, the Ministry of Justice of South Africa has finally requested an arrest warrant for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin from the NDPP Shamila Batohi.
