Russia's Samara oil refinery attacked, massive fire erupts

Samara region came under drone attack overnight on September 22, resulting in a strike on the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery (KNPZ). A major fire broke out at the facility, according to OSINT channels.
Regional Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev reported on his Telegram channel after midnight that a drone danger regime was in effect in the Samara region.
Later, Russians in public groups, likely citing other communication channels of Fedorishchev, wrote that drones had indeed attacked the region.
The governor also called on residents of the Samara region to follow safety rules, stay away from windows and glass partitions, and under no circumstances post footage of drone flights or air defense operations anywhere.
"A large column of smoke has risen in the region. Our subscribers are reporting this. There is no information about consequences or casualties. We are waiting for comments from the government," one of the public groups stated.
Footage from OSINT channels indeed shows not only a large fire at the KNPZ but also a tall, thick column of black smoke rising high into the sky and stretching a significant distance sideways.
As of Tuesday morning at 5:37, it was reported that the fire was still ongoing. Employees of the Russian EMERCOM are working at the site.

The Samara KNPZ is one of the largest oil refineries in the Samara region, Russia. The enterprise processes oil and gas condensate and produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, fuel oil, and other petroleum products.
The plant is important for supplying fuel to regions of Russia, and its products are also used for Russian military logistics.
A few days ago, it was reported that oil refining operations at the Syzran and Saratov refineries were halted due to a drone attack.
