Russia's losses in Ukraine as of September 21: +1,660 troops and 75 artillery systems

Russia's battlefield losses in Ukraine continue to mount as fighting remains intense across the front. The latest figures from Ukraine's military provide an updated tally.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to September 21, 2026, are estimated to be:
- Personnel ‒ nearly 1,519,650 (+1,660)
- Tanks ‒ 12,361 (+5)
- Armored fighting vehicles ‒ 25,365 (+4)
- Special equipment ‒ 4,729 (+13)
- Vehicles and fuel tanks ‒ 151,861 (+516)
- Unmanned ground vehicles ‒ 2,712 (+17)
- Artillery systems ‒ 50,142 (+75)
- MLRS ‒ 2,149 (+3)
- Air defense assets ‒ 1,662 (+3)
- Aircraft ‒ 442
- Helicopters ‒ 356

Frontline situation
Ukrainian drones and missiles launched a massive attack on Moscow on the night of September 20. One of Russia's key oil industry facilities and a logistics facility were struck. The systems used included FP-1, RZ-100, MICH-2000, Palianytsia, Vendetta, Liutyi, Bars, Flamingo, Sichen, and Pelican.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensive operation in the Donetsk region, called Vivaldi, is gaining momentum. A total of 125 square kilometers of territory have already been returned under Ukrainian control.
