Russia's losses in Ukraine as of October 16: Another 1,450 troops and 9 tanks
As of October 16, Russian military losses have reached 1,450 personnel. Since the start of the invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost nearly 673,000 soldiers, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
From February 24, 2022, to October 16, 2024, the estimated total combat losses of the enemy are as follows:
- Personnel: around 672,850 (+1,450) eliminated.
- Tanks: 8,997 (+9) units.
- Troop-carrying AFVs: 17,969 (+30) units.
- Artillery systems: 19,459 (+29) units.
- MLRS (Multiple launch rocket systems): 1,231 units.
- Anti-aircraft systems: 978 units.
- Aircraft: 369 units.
- Helicopters: 329 units.
- UAVs operational-tactical level: 17,050 (+31) units.
- Cruise missiles: 2,620 units.
- Warships/boats: 28 units.
- Submarines: 1 unit.
- Vehicles and fuel tanks: 26,732 (+78) units.
- Special equipment: 3,441 units.
Frontline situation
The situation in the Zaporizhzhia direction remains challenging, as the enemy continues to assault Ukrainian positions. However, Russian forces have not achieved significant success on this part of the front.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, Russian occupying forces recently advanced southeast of Pokrovsk, along the eastern edge of Ukraine’s bulge in the Kursk region, and southeast of Kupiansk, near Toretsk.
